Professor Swaby received her Ph.D. in reading and education from the University of Minnesota in 1977. Professor Swaby is the author of over 10 peer reviewed journal articles, three academic textbooks and four books for children. In her present position at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, not only is Ms. Swaby a full professor of education but she is also the Director of both the Graduate Reading Program and the Graduate Reading Clinics. In addition, Professor Swaby has developed 13 graduate courses, including: Pedagogy, Diagnosis and Remediation, Psycholinguistics and Reading, Clinical Practices, Oral Language Development and Reading-Writing Connections. Professor Swaby will continually monitor developments in the field to ensure that the project uses the latest scientifically-based reading research; as well, she will play a leading role in the creation of the curricula that both informs the development of the programming content and the materials distributed to parents, caregivers, and educators.
